Beginner Guitar Basics You Should Know
Everybody wants to be a rockstar on-stage, playing instruments wildly as the crowd roars and screams from below. With flames on the side or the effects behind the stage to further add to the drama and the excitement. Yes, rockstars are indeed living the life. Unfortunately, just as in every dream you may have or ambition you aspire to, reaching that point requires some learning. Before you can even go up there on that stage and trade places with Slash, Coldplay, or Santana, there’s lots you’ll have to learn. You have to start with guitar for beginners.
Probably one of the most popular instruments in existence, the guitar remains to be the choice of those with musical aspirations, specifically those who aspire to join bands or maybe just play solo as acoustic artists or indie musicians. Aside from its versatility as an instrument, it plays well with different genres of music from rock to pop or from indie music and to jazz and blues. The guitar is also a very handy instrument; you can easily carry it around with you. Think about it, how many drummers or classical pianists are able to bring their instruments around with them to practice on whenever they desire?
Basic pointers
In playing the guitar, there are a few beginner guitar basics to remember. For one, the guitar needs strumming. And if you want to make the strumming as smooth as the way Eric Clapton or Santana play on guitar, maybe start by keeping your fingernails trimmed on your fret hand. Trimmed fingernails allow for holding down the notes easier in order to produce good sounds. Aside from this of course, there are a whole lot more aspects of playing the instrument you’ll have to be familiar with.
For instance, how much do you know about the parts of the guitar? Well basically, there are the strings, and then there’s the body. Normally, guitars have six strings, with each string having a different size and note value. The bottom string is normally the thinnest, and produces the highest notes, while the topmost string, which is the thickest, produces the lowest notes. But while there are strings, guitars also normally have frets which divide the strings into different sections from top to bottom. Then there are other parts such as the neck, the tuning pegs, and the headstock. Other aspects of playing the guitar
Knowing the parts of your guitar is just one thing; proper positioning is also very important in playing the guitar. How would you position yourself comfortably in order to produce the best sounds and maximize the instrument’s features? You also have to know how to tune your guitar, as this has to be done regularly in order to produce better sounds. Tuning simply involves adjusting the pitch of each string to create the right note. But how exactly do you do this? Then comes the part where you create music by playing notes first, then playing chords, and eventually playing the scales. Indeed, there are a lot of beginner guitar basics required to learn and master guitar playing.
Learning to play the guitar involves more than just what you do with guitar hero, but it doesn’t have to be really complicated. Just learn the beginner guitar basics and you’re on your way to conquering that grand arena as a rockstar!
