Great Starter Electric Bass Guitars For Rock Band Classes by Tom Zheiner
Every band needs a bass player. Every bass player needs a bass he or she can afford. Here are some that may be good for starters, and a few better ones that you can grow into.
Most electric bass players’ first bass is a very cheap model that gets the job done but only barely. Anyone who aspires to become a better musician will soon feel the need to graduate up to a more serious instrument. Thankfully, this does not necessarily involve spending colossal sums of money. These days, you can find a remarkably good electric bass for a surprisingly low price. The money you save would be better-spent on bass lessons. In this article, we will look at three popular models in the $200 to $500 range.

A great many popular songs have been played on the classic Fender Jazz electric bass. If you have been taking bass lessons at all, it is quite likely that you have already seen one of these; even your teacher might have one. A genuine Fender Jazz is very expensive, but you can get the budget Squier version for a very respectable price and still have an excellent instrument that will last you for years. Even if you decide to upgrade later, the Squier Jazz bass will still work great as a backup instrument. It has all the appointments and construction details you would expect of a higher-end Fender.

If you are more of a modern rock player, you might be interested in the Ibanez GSR200. This electric bass has twenty-two frets, two pickups, and a great-sounding active EQ section that can really help to bring out this instrument’s better qualities. Ibanez are a well-respected builder of guitars and basses and their models are used by many touring professionals.

For a slightly more left-field choice, consider the Yamaha BB415. This electric bass is an interesting blend of classic and modern, and produces a sound that can work very well in a variety of different situations. Yamaha are well-known as one of the sleeper brands; they may be less of a name-brand, but players in the know understand that the quality is very impressive for the price.

Whether you’re beginning electric bass lessons, into Guitar lessons, or joining rock band classes, you are going need a bass guitar you can rely on. Choose one of these basses and you will have a fine instrument that lasts you for many years. Combined with some bass lessons with a good teacher, you will be well on your way to becoming a famous player. The electric bass is a fantastic instrument, so do some justice to both it and yourself and get a good example of one.
