Labella Guitar Strings
Sitar String Help?
So i got a sitar and a few of the strings broke when tuning them due to poor quality.
So i recently purchased a pack of LaBella Sitar strings for an 18 string sitar.
Since i never really got to play anything or learn on it due to immediate string breakage, i’m not sure what gauge strings go where. Here are the gauges I have.
PG= plain gold alloy P= plain steel
.028 PG
.022 PG
.014 PG
.014 P
.009 P
.008 P
I know the .008 strings are the sympathetic strings and also the 6th and 7th string. What order do the others go in?
I play Guitar, but I’m sure there is a good chance it doesn’t go thickest to thinnest like a guitar.
Any help??
EDIT// i bought the strings online, and bought the sitar from someone who happened to be selling one in the local area not from a store or anything
i have a sitar, which I restrung myself, so i can probably answer some of your questions, if not all.I have a very good little book which covers the basics, called “Learn to Play on Sitar, by Ram Avtar ‘Vir’ .published by Pankaj Publications .
www.pankajbooks.com.
Hope this helps, but feel free to email me (see my profile)
